Comparative Analysis of Agronomic Traits of 11 Alfalfa Germplasms in Northern Xinjiang in the Year of Sowing
[Objective]In order to investigate the agronomic performance of 11 alfalfa(Medicago sativa)germplasms in northern Xinjiang, and to provide scientific basis for selecting suitable alfalfa varieties and excellent breeding materials for local planting.[Methods]The quantitative traits related to growth period and yield of 11 germplasms were observed, followed by evaluation by grey correlation analysis.[Results]The dry weight per plant of 11 alfalfa varieties was 0.22~0.52 kg/plant,the plant heights at squaring and initial flowering stage were 38.43~62.06 cm and 65.60~73.38 cm,respectively;the stem diameter was 3.73~5.65 mm,branching number was 3.67~6.25,leaf length was 22.56~29.54 mm,leaf width was 10.52~13.39 mm,and the ratio of stem to leaf ratio was 0.71~1.42.At the initial flowering stage,Kangsai I varieties had the highest plant height, the widest leaf width, the largest number of branches and the lowest stem/leaf ratio,BJMX varieties had the largest stem diameter and the highest yield per plant, and Muge varieties had the longest leaf length.[Conclusion]Kangsai I,BJMX,Target and SWMX varieties had high weighted correlation, the production performance and comprehensive ability of which were good in northern Xinjiang.Kangsai I and Target varieties performed well in this experiment, and were suitable for being promoted and planted in northern Xinjiang, while BJMX and SWMX varieties could be used as breeding materials for high yield for further study.
