Comparative Study on Architectural Model Language and Chinese Traditional Architectural Space:A Case of the Forbidden City in Beijing in Ming and Qing Dynasties
Guided by the theory of Architectural Model Language,through combing the architectural model language constructed by Alexander,it is found that there are many similarities and differences between the model space mentioned by Alexander and Chinese traditional architectural space.Taking the Forbidden City in Beijing in the Ming and Qing Dynasties as an example,this paper finds the similarities between the two in terms of architectural groups,main buildings and overlapping roofs,and explores the differences behind the similarities.By comparing the spaces grown up under two cultural backgrounds,we can correctly understand the similarities and differences between Architectural Model Language and Chinese traditional architectural space.In order to establish cultural self-confidence and to provide a new way of thinking and reference for contemporary Chinese design,the paper explores the space language of Chinese traditional architecture.
