This paper,in line with the policy requirements of the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)of the United Nations,analyzes the origins and international experiences of the ESG concept in cities,and summarizes Shanghai's leading position in the ESG assessment ranking of Chinese cities,thereby illustrating the full value and contribution of Shanghai's urban ESG practices to the ESG practices in other Chinese cities.The paper then focuses on the current development state of Shanghai's urban ESG,comprehensively extracts three practice characteristics in depth at both the municipal and district level with a forward-looking way,and analyzes the mutual promotion between Shanghai's urban ESG and corporate ESG.Finally,it proposes the challenges and prospects that Shanghai's urban ESG practices will face in the future,helping the city to achieve more sustainable,equitable,and inclusive development.
