A Study on Adaptability of Silkworm Variety'Huakang No.3'with Resistance to Nuclearpolyhedrosis in Rugao
In order to explore the adaptability of the silkworm Bombyx mori variety'Huakang No.3'in the silkworm-rearing area of Rugao Jiangsu,we conducted comparative experiments between'Huakang No.3'and'Jing Song×Hao Yue'during two silkworm-rearing seasons in spring and autumn of 2020-2021.By investigating the feeding performance, cocoon yield, disease resistance, cocoon quality, and silk reeling performance of the two pairs of silkworm varieties,we found that the one-day hatching rate, uniformity of development, and cocoon yield per thousand seeds of'Huakang No.3'were all superior to'Jing Song×Hao Yue'.And the total cocoon weight and cocoon shell ratio reached or exceeded'Jing Song×Hao Yue',especially with a significant advantage in robustness. It can be concluded that'Huakang No.3'has a strong adaptability in this silkworm-rearing area and is suitable for large-scale production.
