Surgical considerations for hip fracture patients receiving anticoagulant therapy
Hip fracture is one of the most common type of fractures, particularly among the elder people.Falls are the primary cause of hip fractures. These patients may be undergoing anticoagulant therapy, including the use of anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs, prior to the hip fracture. However, there is ample evidence supporting early surgical intervention for hip fracture patients upon admission. While anticoagulant therapy often leads to surgi-cal delays. In this article, the authors explore several key issues regarding hip fracture surgery in patients undergoing anticoagulant therapy, including preoperative medication cessation, surgical delay, and intraoperative bleeding.Draw-ing on current cutting-edge research, guidelines, and authors'own experience, some recommendations are provided for clinical implications.
