Harm and prophylactic strategies of non-therapeutic laparotomy for civilian and war abdomi-nal traumas
Nowadays,it has been increasingly recognized that not all patients with civilian or war abdominal traumas need urgent surgery.Indeed, surgery is non-therapeutic or negative in some trauma patients, which will in-crease the risk of complications and prolong the duration of hospitalization. This paper aims to summarize evidence regarding the prevalence and complications of non-therapeutic laparotomy in patients with civilian or war abdominal traumas and to discuss strategies regarding how to prevent non-therapeutic laparotomies.
