Finite element analysis in proximal humeral fractures:application and resarch progress
Proximal humerus fracture is a common fracture type, accounting for about 5%of all fractures, and is more common in the elderly with osteoporosis.Because of the characteristics of complex fracture types and frequent complications resulting in failure of internal fixation, its management is a big challenge for trauma surgeons.Finite element(FE)analysis can establish an FE model of proximal humeral fractures by using the image data,ana-lyze the biomechanics of the fractures accurately, optimize the design of the implants, increase the stability of internal fixation, thereby reducing related complications and individualizing the implant design. This review summarizes the application and research progress of FE analysis in proximal humerus fractures, and provides reference for optimizing the design and placement of proximal humerus-related implants.
