Analysis and prevention of postoperative complications of patellar fractures managed by tension band system
Patellar fractures severely disrupt the continuity of the extensor mechanism and affect the knee flexion and extension. With the changes in the affected population and fracture patterns, the weaknesses of the exist-ing treatment options for patellar fractures have become apparent. Non-operative treatment is likely to affect the nor-mal movement of the knee;while surgical treatment, though widely accepted,is often accompanied by complications, especially the most commonly used tension band technique, whose postoperative complications are becoming more and more prominent and clear. Based on the anatomical structure and biomechanical characteristics of the patella, this paper summarized the postoperative complications, causes and preventive measures of the tension band system for patellar fractures through clinical observation and literature review.
