This article explores the referential experiences for China through analyzing the applied background, technical route and related practices of Multi - criteria Analysis Framework as a decision support tool in Netherlands. The results indicate that the Multi - criteria Analysis Framework expands current concept of sustainable development of industrial areas through paying close attention to biodiversity conservation and promoting values of economy, society and environment. With the characteristics of clear structure and guidance, easy implementation and wide applicability, the framework will help confirm the design orientation and management measures for land use in industrial areas. Under the circumstances of land resource shortages, there are many kinds and amounts of industrial areas in China that fit to the applied background of Multi - criteria Analysis Framework. The Multi - criteria Analysis Framework should be introduced and promoted actively as a support tool for land planning decision.
