Strengthening economic connections in north-east China is conducive to enhancing the regional integration and forming a collective force for driving the comprehensive revital-ization of northeast China.Based on the modified gravity model and Social Network Analysis, this paper analyses the evolution-ary characteristics of the spatial pattern of economic connection in northeast China. The findings indicate that the overall density of economic connection network in northeast China has demon-strated an initial rise followed by a decline. The economic con-nection network is considerably constrained by inter-provincial boundaries, with stronger economic connections among cities within the same province. The regions with strong economic ties are mainly concentrated in the central and southern Liaoning city cluster with Shenyang and Dalian as the center. The three pro-vincial capital cities maintain a dominant central position, while resource-depleted cities such as Heihe and Yichun are relative-ly less economically associated, resulting in a distribution pat-tern of higher inter-city economic connections in the south and lower in the north. The center of gravity of the network is moving to the central and southern Liaoning city cluster.Moreover,en-couraging the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing, raising market demand, enhancing infrastructure construction, and increasing efforts towards opening-up can contribute to strengthening economic connections in northeast China.
