Study on the Process,Pattern and Mechanism of Dong Ethnic Settle-ment in the Duliujiang Region in Guizhou
Given the lack of systematic understanding of the settlement environment of the Dong ethnic group, this paper,by regarding the Duliujiang region in Guizhou Province as a human settlement cultural area composed of several basic units of small watershed settlements, and by selecting three nested spaces of different scales(Duliujinag watershed, small valley watersheds, and settlements)as the study objects, aims to sort out and summarize the construction process, spatial pattern, and mechanism of the Dong ethnic settlement environment system in the Duliujiang region. The study finds that the emergence and development of the Dong ethnic group's human settlement have gone through the entire process of migration, site selection, initial establishment, management, adaptation, expansion, and establi-shment of social organizations. The Dong ethnic group's human settlement,as a complex system, has formed a differentiated spatial pattern in a multi-scale nested space and ultimately developed a hierarchical system pattern of"Settlement-Basic Unit of Human Settlement-Cultural Area of Human Settlement"that couples natural, social and cultural systems; In the process of spatial and temporal evolution, the Dong human settlement interacts and responds to the local subsystems, finally transforms from a completely natural environment to a human settlement environment that couples"nature-human"under the dynamic coupling mechanism, thus forms a unique village human settlement of the Dong ethnic group.
