Objective:To investigate the knowledge of enteral nutrition, management experience and continuing education willingness of medical and nursing staff in geriatric departments, nursing homes and elderly care institutions across multiple hospitals in Shandong Province, analyze the influencing factors, and provide evidence for developing effective training plans. Methods:From September 2021 to November 2022,an online questionnaire survey was conducted on geriatric medical and nursing staff using convenient sampling. Results:The score of the enteral nutrition knowledge questionnaire was (8.28±2.91) out of 17,with scores of (3.18±1.26) out of 6 for items related to nutritional screening and assessment,(2.34±1.44) out of 5 for items related to nutrient formulation selection and compatibility, and (2.76±1.11) out of 6 for items related to enteral nutrition complication management. The scores of the management experience and learning willingness questionnaires were (5.57±2.03) out of 9 and (3.63±0.67) out of 4,respectively. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that professional title and unit level were the main influencing factors on the knowledge level of enteral nutrition among medical and nursing staff. Only 42.38% of medical and nursing staff had received enteral nutrition training, but 91.21% were willing to receive such training. Medical and nursing staff preferred to obtain enteral nutrition knowledge through online platforms (32.04%). Conclusion:The overall knowledge of enteral nutrition among medical and nursing staff is relatively poor, while management experience is acceptable. However, medical and nursing staff are highly motivated to receive continuing education on enteral nutrition. Therefore, institutions should strengthen the training of young medical staff, and stimulate the learning motivation of medical and nursing staff through online training and other means. Meanwhile, higher authorities should also attach greater importance to nutrition training for medical and nursing staff in primary hospitals, nursing homes, and retirement homes.
