A hybrid-integrated frequency synthesizer which consists of YIG-tuned oscillator, control and PLL units was implemented. The basic principles of the YIG frequency synthesizer were illustrated, and then the overall design ideas and the detailed measures of hybrid-integration were proposed."Permanent magnet bias"and"no heater"schemes were adopted to reduce the volume and power consumption,"magnetic equalization"measure was adopted to improve the magnetic field uniformity,YIG sphere and permanent magnet complementary method was used to reduce the frequency temperature drift, and then a miniaturized YIG phase-locked frequency synthesizer with low power consumption was realized.Compared to conventional YIG frequency synthesizers, the volume was reduced by about 2/3,and the power consumption was only about 3.6 W.The phase noise performance was comparable to that of conventional YIG frequency synthesizers. The applicability of the hybrid-integration structure design was pointed out at the end of this paper, which was to say,the concept of the hybrid-integration structure design was suitable for not only YIG frequency synthesizers but also multi-functional YIG filtering components, but there were also shortcomings and limitations.
