Exploring the folk tea drinking customs and social functions in the middle and late Ming Dynasty:A study based on materials from Ming Dynasty novels and operas
The extensive tea drinking behaviors formed a variety of folk tea drinking customs in the Ming Dynasty.However,these folk tea drinking customs were rarely recorded systematically,which were dispersedly recorded in various historic documents.In the middle and late Ming Dynasty,popular novels and operas developed vigorously and these literary works vividly recorded the daily life of the society at that time.Through sorting out and analyzing the tea activities in these literary works,the folk customs of tea drinking in the middle and late Ming Dynasty were systematically displayed and the social functions of tea drinking customs at that time were explored.
