The reference about the tale of"Shen Nong taking tea as antidote"can be traced back to Zhengtong 9 th year of Ming Dynasty (1444)in Shi Wu Ji Yuan by Chen Hua.Based on the tea customs at that time,editor Zhao Bi rewrote the tea entry in Shi Wu Ji Yuan according to the tale of Shen Nong described inHuai Nan Zi and Cha Jing.Based on Shi Wu Ji Yuan,Xu Ju cited the reference source from Huai Nan Zi to Ben Cao in his book GuJin Shi Wu Yuan Shi during the reign of Emperor Wanli.
