Atomization and Evaporation Charactertistics of Diesel Fuel under High Temperature and Pressure
An experimental study of diesel atomization and evaporation characteristics under different injection and ambient pressures was carried out in a variable temperature and pressure constant volume vessel to simulate the actual operating condi‐tions of an engine by using high‐speed photography and schlieren method .A series of high‐temperature spray images were ac‐quired .The results showed that the penetration ,cone angle and projection area of diesel spray column increased with the in‐crease of injection pressure ,but those of fuel liquid core hardly changed .In addition ,the significant evaporation timing ad‐vanced ,the gaseous projection area increased and the air‐fuel mixing uniformity improved .With the increase of ambient pres‐sure ,the penetration and projection area of spray column and liquid core decreased ,but the spray cone angle increased .
