In order to ensure the reliability and low noise of internal combustion engines,and protect crankshafts of internal combustion engines from torsional vibration damage,various types of torsional vibration dampers should be configured and applied. The main types of torsional vibration dampers and selection principle are summarized,and the application and performance of vibration damper with rubber,silicone oil,sleeve spring,plate spring and helical spring,as well as optimal design and static/dynamic measurement method,are studied and analyzed. Some new dampers and application cases are introduced.
