The unique geographical environment of Nankun Mountain in Guangdong Province has nurtured rare natural caffeine free wild Camellia ptilophylla resources.In order to understand the current situation of the resources and provide theoretical reference for their protection and utilization,we conducted a systematic investigation and trait study on them.The results showed that Camellia ptilophylla mainly exist in the form of aggregated communities,with communities far apart from each other..A total of 104 wild Camellia ptilophylla were investigated all belong to arbor or small arbor type,with smaller tree crowns and more concentrated and upward branches;Rich variation in leaf shape,mostly belonging to large leaves;The leaves are thick and the palisade tissue is arranged tightly;The tender buds of new shoots have dense and smooth hairs;.Most of wild Camellia ptilophylla have a higher content of theobromine and a lower content of caffeine,,with non phenotypic catechins GCG and C being the dominant catechin components.
