Xiangchayan 3(original name 88-03),a new tea cultivar,was isolated and bred from the seedlings of natural hybrid progenies of Anhua population varieties by systematic selection.The results shows that Xiangchayan 3(88-03),belongs to shrub type,middle leaf type and early sprounting species.The leaves are long elliptical in shape and dark green in color;The buds and leaves are yellow green with a lot of hairs and strong tenderness.The stage of one bud and one leaf,one bud and two leaves,and one bud and three leaves is equivalent to that of the early sprouting tea cultivar Fuding Dabaicha.The average water extract content in spring is 18.13%±1.93%,tea polyphenols content is 18.13%±1.93%,amino acids content is 4.16%±1.20%,and phenol ammonia ratio is 4.36.The baked green tea produced from it is tight and thin with many hairs in appearance,emerald green in dry tea color,high and long in aroma,bright yellow green in soup color,fresh and mellow in taste,and tender green and bright in infused leaf.The average annual yield of fresh leaves of the four years(4~7 years old)of the comparison test is 871.86kg/667 m2,which is 42.25%higher than that of the control Fuding Dabaicha.It has strong cold resistance,drought resistance,and disease and insect resistance.
