Renowned as the"Fairy Tale Grandmother",Astrid Lindgren is famous for creating numerous"mischievous child"characters and demonstrating a keen interest in the social development of children. Emil's Pranks,a novel infused with the author 's childhood experiences ,uses Emil 's growth in various social environments such as the family estate ,village ,and parish as an ethical narrative thread to illustrate the formation of children 's ethical consciousness. At the same time ,Lindgren reveals the common moral conflicts in the rural society of Smaland through a series of ethical dilemmas. By highlighting the pure-hearted nature of"alternative children"and their effective integration into the real world ,Lindgren proposes solutions that aim to seek and reshape an ethical community beyond mere interest considerations.
