Effect of Micro wave Ablation for the Treatment Of Unifocal Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma
Objective:To investigate the therapeutic effect of microwave ablation of solitary micropapillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed in 72 patients with micropapillary carcinoma of the thyroid treated by microwave ablation. The ablation range and volume of necrotic lesion were evaluated by contrast-enhanced ultrasound immediately after sur-gery.Routine ultrasound examination was performed at 1,3,6 and 12 months after operation to observe the absorption of the le-sions,and compare the volume, volume reduction rate and thyroid function of the lesions.According to the maximum diameter of nodules, the nodules were divided into diameter>5 mm and diameter ≤5 mm.The volume reduction rate of lesions was com-pared to observe whether there were new lesions and lymph node metastasis. Results:At 1,3,6 and 12 months follow-up,the volume reduction rates were 37.3%,73.5%,91.5%and 100.0%,respectively,with statistical significance(P<0.05).The size reduction rate of nodules with maximum diameter>5 mm was lower than that of nodules with maximum diameter ≤5 mm,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant change in thyroid function between 1 month after surgery and before surgery(P>0.05),and no new lesions or cervical lymph node metastases were found at 1-year follow-up.Conclusion:Microwave ablation is effective in the treatment of solitary micropapillary thyroid carcinoma, and the smal-ler the size, the faster the absorption.
