Research on Beijing Winter Olympics Archives Collection from the Perspective of Social Memory
The successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics constitutes a collective memory for the Chinese nation and its people.Studying the archival collection of the Beijing Winter Olympics from the perspective of social memory can promote the archival collection process and serve as a reference for future major event archive collections. This paper confines its theoretical framework to the perspective of social memory and discusses the instructive significance of social memory theory to archival collection.By analyzing and summarizing the mechanisms and outcomes of the Beijing Winter Olympics archival collection through literature research and investigative interviews, the paper identifies issues and deficiencies in the archival collection from three aspects of collection systems, collection entities and collection timing, and proposes archives should pay more attention to improving top-level design and standard specifications, strengthening the communication and cooperation among memory institutions, and establishing a full life-cycle archive collection mechanism.
