A New Approach to the Storage and Placement of Yin Shang Oracle Bones
As historical evidence of the late Shang dynasty,the oracle bones are an important historical source for exploring the early archival history of China.In this paper the author combines the content of the divination and the material form of the oracle bones,and finds that the shape of the tortoise or animal bones,the divination text examples,and the storage method influence each other,with the difference in form determining the difference in storage method,and the different storage methods producing different oracle textual styles.Not only did oracle bones have the value and possibility of being recorded and used for research at the time,but archives were also available in a variety of forms.
