Memory and Identity:Logical Mechanism of Fostering a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation:An Analytical Framework from an Archival Perspective
As an educational resource of national identity and a basic tool of national governance,archives contribute to the acquirement of the legitimacy of national governance systems,the dissemination of public ideas and the construction of national identity.Archives are an effective carrier for conveying collective memory and shaping identity.Memory and identity constitute two important aspects of archives to foster a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation.The public imagination space constructed by archives shows the relationship between collective memory and the sense of community for the Chinese nation.The archives of the community for the Chinese nation which possess an integral characteristic record the historical track of the formation and development of the community for the Chinese nation,and the common historical memory shared by all ethnic groups in China empowers the strengthening of the identity of the community for the Chinese nation.Through constructing modern archival systems,continuously strengthening the common memory and identity of the Chinese nation in a unified multi-ethnic country,and systematically explaining the internal logic and external manifestation of the archives'role in fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation,we can not only scientifically understand the archival path of modern nation-state construction,but also better break the competitive narrow nationalism and the crisis of nation-state identity from the psychological and spiritual dimensions.
