Urban Forest Landscape Pattern of Shenyang City Based on QuickBird Images
Patch number, patch area, patch density, Shannon diversity index, fractal dimension index, aggregation index were used to analyse the landscape pattern of urban forests in Shenyang City by the theory of landscape ecology, GIS technique and spatial pattern analysis software Fragstats. Results showed that there was 101.24 square kilometers of urban forests in Shenyang, with a patch number of 42703. Ecological and public welfare forest occupied 47 percent of the total urban forest area, while subordinated forest contributed the most to patch number, accounting for 65 percent of the total. The distribution of urban forests was not uniform, and the structure was not reasonable. Subordinated forest and road forest exhibited the greatest fragmentation, with a scattered distribution pattern and the most complicated shape. Scenic and recreational forest displayed a low degree of fragmentation and good conditions of natural connectivity and aggregation. Urban forest in Shenyang had high landscape diversity and low dominance index, and its evenness index was approximate to 1, indicating characteristics of abundant patch types and high heterogeneity with no dominant patch type.
