Competition Relationship Between Giant Panda and Livestock in Wanglang National Nature Reserve, Sichuan
Frequency distribution method, crosstab method and niche overlap method were used to assess the competition relationship between giant panda and livestock based on the inventory data in 2009 in Wanglang National Nature Reserve, Pingwu County of Sichuan Province. The competitive environment conditions between giant panda and livestock in Wanglang National Nature Reserve were obtained as the elevation 2500-3 000 m, the mixed conifer and broad-leaved forest, the mean height of trees 20-30 m, the crown density 0.25-0.50, the mean diameter at breast height 20-30 cm, mean height of shrubs 2-3 m, and shrub coverage 25%-50%. As for the bamboo, Fargesia denudate which grew well was the favorite habitat for both giant panda and livestock, with the mean height of 2-3 m.
