Forest Fire Danger Classification of Sanming City in Fujian Province
A study was conducted to classify the forest fire danger zones in 11 districts ( or counties) of Sanming, Fujian Province using the cluster analysis method base on the forest fire data from 2000 to 2009. Average burned area per individual fire, average forest fire occurrence per unit area, average burned volume loss per unit area and living stock were selected as classification indices. Fire danger areas were classified into four classes. Darian County belongs to class I fine danger area, accounting for 10% of the total area. Youxi County belongs to class II fire danger area, occupying 15% of the total area. The class III fire danger areas include Jianning, Taining, Qingliu, Ninghua and Shaxian County, accounting for 40% of the total area. The class IV fire danger areas include Jiangle, Mingxi, Yong' an County and urban area, accounting for 35% of the total area. A classification map of fire danger areas was drawn. The status of forest fire prevention and fire fighting at different fire danger areas were analyzed, and the prevention and control strategy were put forward.
