The Influence of Die Temperature on the Properties of Wood Plastic Composites
Wood flour/HDPE (WF/HDPE), wood flour /PP (WF/PP) and wood flour/PP/HDPE (WF/PP/HDPE) compos-ites were prepared, and the effects of the die temperatures on the mechanical properties and crystallinity of composites were investigated by static mechanical test and X-ray diffraction analysis.Within the die temperature of 150-200 ℃, the color of three composites becomes dark with the increasing of die temperature, and the die temperature hase little impact on the mechanical properties of WF/HDPE composite, while dramatic influence on WF/PP composite.WF/PP composite pres-ents optimal performance when the die temperature is 165 ℃.Compared with the temperature at 155 ℃, the impact strength, flexural strength and modulus of elasticity of WF/PP at 165 ℃ increase by 12.3%, 9.6% and 15.1%, respec-tively.When the die temperature is higher than 165 ℃, WF/PP/HDPE composite is with smooth surface, and its mechan-ical properties decrease with the increasing of die temperature.
