US-EU Trade and Technology Council:Origins,Impact on China, and Response
As a new mechanism for restarting transatlantic coordination and cooperation,US-EU Trade and Technology Council(TTC)is the result of the active promotion of transatlantic activists. The reflection on traditional free trade and the"Washington Consensus",coupled with great changes in a century, technological revolutions as well as structural changes in the balance of power between China, the United States, and Europe has driven the latter two to constantly strengthen their competitiveness towards China in the fields of trade and technology. The mechanism of biannual coordination and meetings under the TTC framework has gradually taken shape after four ministerial meetings, which caused increasing pressure to China in the same time. However, multiple factors such as differences in interests and opinions, different policy preferences towards China and the difficulty of repairing the transat-lantic rift simultaneously constrain the potential space of TTC,exacerbating the uncertainty of its future development.China should adjust its strategy towards the US and Europe in a timely manner to eliminate the adverse effects.
