Emotional Logic of National Security:A Theoretical Analysis
Existing research on national security mostly views the status and process of national security as results of rational national construction, neglecting the significant role of emotional factors.Emotional factors can influence national security beliefs, national security decision-making,security community, and national security status. In other words, national emotions and leaders'emotions are able to affect the formation of national security beliefs. The emotions of the public and leaders can both shape the process of making national security decisions and strategically promote the implementation of national security policies.Emotional attachment and emotional trust between nations are capable of helping build and maintain a security community.Leaders'ability to control and utilize emotions can facilitate the achievement of a national security status,as primordial emotions like anger and hatred can trigger international conflicts, while instrumental emotions can promote cooperation between nations under certain conditions.Clarifying the emotional logic of national security is beneficial for improving the national security theoretical system and for a deeper understanding of the comprehensive national security concept as well as global security initiatives, and also helps to provide a feasibly microscopic path for realizing China's security proposition.
