Recurrence of rectal prolapse after surgery is a clinical concern.The reoperation strategy for patients with re-current rectal prolapse requires comprehensive consideration of patient factors,surgical characteristics,surgical risks,and the clinical experience of the surgical team to alleviate patients'psychological burden towards surgical treatment and en-hance their satisfaction with the treatment outcomes.Our team encountered a patient with ileum protruded outside the anus,who had undergo repeated surgeries for recurrent rectal prolapse.After the ileum protruded outside the anus,this patient underwent ileal mesentery plication,terminal ileal mesentery suspension and fixation,and Thiersch operation.No recurrence of anal mass protrusion was reported within one year post-surgery.This paper reports the clinical diagnosis and treatment process of this patient for peer exchange.
