Characterization of Scour Corrosion of Buried Natural Gas Pipeline With High Sulfur Content
Two organic corrosion inhibitors of benzodiazepine derivatives,BS and BT,were synthesized. The corrosion protection properties of these two organic compounds against sulfur-containing natural gas mild steel(MS)pipelines in hydrogen sulfide simulated acid were thoroughly investigated by standard electrochemical and gravimetric methods.Meanwhile, the steel surface and corrosion solution were analyzed by UV-visible spectroscopy. The experimental results showed that both organic compounds exhibited good mild steel corrosion inhibition in acidic media and were hybrid inhibitors.Thermodynamic parameters revealed that both compounds adsorbed on the metal surface in a Langmuir adsorption isotherm.UV-visible spectroscopy results showed that the addition of these two compounds reduced the dissolution of iron ions in the corrosion solution and formed a protective film on the steel surface.
