Preparation Method and Performance Analysis of Yttrium Doped Zirconia Powder
The mole fraction 8%yttrium doped zirconia ceramic powder(8YSZ)was synthesized using different preparation techniques(solid phase synthesis, coprecipitation method, hydrolysis method,self-propagating high temperature synthesis). The effects of different preparation techniques on the particle size, specific surface area, and phase structure of powders were studied. The effects of pH value, calcination temperature, grinding method and time on the phase structure and particle size of 8YSZ powder prepared by coprecipitation method were investigated. And the density, bending strength, and ion conductivity were tested and characterized. The results indicated that single phase 8YSZ samples were synthesized by coprecipitation method with pH controlled at 8~10.The calcination temperature had a significant impact on the crystallinity of 8YSZ powder, calcinating above 1000℃could generate powder with good crystallinity. The ball-milling and sand-milling methods could respectively control the particle size of the powder to be below 10 μm and 1 μm.In addition,The density and flexural strength of 8YSZ powder prepared by coprecipitation method reached 5.78 g·cm-3 and 207.7 MPa,and it had a good Arrhenius conductivity linear relationship(correlation coefficient was 0.9927)and the lowest conductivity activation energy(0.70 eV·K-1)in the range of 500~750℃.
