Adsorption Characteristics of Cr(Ⅵ)from Aqueous Solution by Activated Biochar
Different activated carbon materials were prepared by using cotton and corn straw as raw materials and steam as the activator. The effect of different activation time on the adsorption properties of biochar was investigated. The pore structure and surface structure of the activated carbon materials were characterized by nitrogen adsorption-desorption,fully automatic specific surface area and porosity analyzer(BET)and the scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The results showed that the adsorption performance of the activated biochar reached best when the carbonization temperature was 500℃,carbonization time was 1 h,steam flow per 1 g carbonized material was 0.04 g·min-1,activation temperature was 800℃,activation time of cotton straw was 30 min, while the activation time of corn straw was 45 min.The activated carbon material prepared under the optimal conditions was applied to the treatment of chromium-containing solution. The results showed that with the increasing of the adsorption time and Cr(Ⅵ)ion mass concentration in the aqueous solution, the active carbon materials had higher adsorption capacity for Cr(Ⅵ).
