Performance Analysis of Lithium-Ion Battery Cathode Materials Prepared from Petroleum Coke under Different Production Conditions
The use of low sulfur petroleum coke in the production of cathode electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries is an important way to increase its added value and save resources. In this paper,lithium-ion battery cathode materials were prepared from low sulfur petroleum coke through carbonization and graphitization under different production process conditions. The physicochemical and electrochemical properties were analyzed to explore its application as a lithium-ion battery cathode material. The results showed that,in a conventional delayed coking unit in a refinery, the first coulombic efficiency of low sulfur petroleum coke after graphitization was 82.79%,the stable capacity after 200 cycles was 273.1 mA·h·g-1,and when the current density was 2C(744 mA·g-1),the capacity retention rate of graphitized low sulfur petroleum coke was 99.4%,meeting the requirements for commercial battery use.The results indicate that low sulfur petroleum coke has great potential for application in lithium-ion batteries through graphitization.
