The effects of ethyl orthosilicate, ammonia water, alcohol water volume ratio, and reaction temperature on the particle size and monodispersity of microspheres were investigated.Monodisperse silica(SiO2)microspheres with uniform morphology and adjustable particle size between 180 nm and 820 nm were prepared. The results showed that as the amount of ethyl orthosilicate increased, the particle size of SiO2 microspheres gradually increased. With the increase of ammonia dosage, the particle size of SiO2 microspheres showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing. As the reaction temperature increased, the particle size of SiO2 microspheres decreased. As the alcohol water volume ratio decreased, the particle size of SiO2 microspheres decreased. On this basis, amino, carboxyl, and alkyl groups were introduced onto the surface of SiO2 microspheres using 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane,glutaric anhydride, and octadecyltriethoxysilane, respectively. The infrared spectroscopy and thermal analysis results showed that functional SiO2 microspheres were successfully prepared.
