Based on the precursor with copper nitrate as the active component,CuO/activated carbon catalyst was prepared by impregnation roasting method, and H2O2 was used as the oxidant to compare the effect of treating simulated wastewater of methyl orange with mass concentration of 500 mg·L-1 under atmospheric pressure in the catalytic wet oxidation process. The effects of different amounts of CuO/activated carbon catalyst and 30% mass fraction of H2O2 oxidant, decolorization reaction time, and decolorization reaction temperature on the decolorization rate of methyl orange wastewater were investigated. The results showed that with the continuous increase of CuO/activated carbon catalyst dosage,30% H2O2 oxidant dosage, and reaction temperature, the decolorization rate of methyl orange wastewater significantly increased. However, increasing the reaction time had smaller effect on the decolorization rate of methyl orange wastewater. When the amount of CuO/activated carbon catalyst added was 0.1 g,the amount of 30% H2O2 oxidant added was 6 mL,the catalytic reaction time was 2 h,and the catalytic reaction temperature was 35 ℃,the decolorization rate of methyl orange wastewater could reach 82.44%.
