Preparation and Oxygen Reduction Reaction Performance of Carbonylated Carbon
Commercial carbon black was treated with concentrated nitric acid, and the obtained material was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction(XRD),Raman spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The oxygen reduction performance of the material was evaluated using the electrochemical workstation. The results indicated that the surface of carbon black treated with concentrated nitric acid was carbonylated, the ID/IG of the treated carbon black was 1.04,and the selectivity to hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)was obviously improved compared with the untreated sample. The selectivity to H2O2 could be kept above 85%in the wide potential range of 0.2~0.6 V,and the reaction process was close to the 2-electron process.Carbonylated carbon black was obtained by simple treatment of commercial carbon black, which had good ORR performance. This study provides a new idea for the development of green preparation of H2O2.
