Impact Study of Digital Infrastructure Construction on the High-Quality Development of New Urbanization:Empirical Evidence Based on"Broadband China"
Serving as the"technological backbone"and"data hub"of the modern e-conomic spatial network,digital infrastructure construction holds significant impor-tance in building a digital powerhouse and promoting the high-quality development of urban areas.Based on the new development philosophy,this research constructs an indicator system for high-quality urban development and,through theoretical a-nalysis of the intrinsic mechanisms through which digital infrastructure construc-tion influences the high-quality development of new urbanization,utilizes the"Broadband China"pilot policy established between 2014 and 2016 as a quasi-natu-ral experiment to build a multi-time-point difference-in-differences model.The stud-y systematically investigates the impact of digital infrastructure construction on the high-quality development of urban areas.Findings reveal that digital infrastructure construction,represented by the"Broadband China"pilot policy,significantly pro-motes high-quality urban development,with a more pronounced policy effect ob-served in cities located in the eastern and western regions.Mechanism studies indi-cate that digital infrastructure construction affects high-quality urban development by fostering the upgrading of urban residents'consumption.The research conclu-sions provide policy insights for leveraging the digital leadership role of the"Broad-band China"pilot policy to further promote high-quality urban development.
