Ideological Education in English Public Speaking Curriculum Based on the Concept of Content-language Integration (CLI)——Using Cultural Confidence as an Example
English public speaking is not just a language skill but also encompasses complex elements of expression,thinking,and cultural communication. Traditional English public speaking courses mainly focus on introducing the world to Chinese students and telling global stories in English. However,as the urgency of China's style of modernization construction continues to grow,English education needs to keep pace and provide students with a more comprehensive education. In practical teaching,the concept of Content-Language Integration ( CLI) emphasizes that teachers should pay attention to integrating course content and thematic design in curriculum development,guiding students on how to effectively apply language skills while fostering their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The practice of public speaking is a key component of this teaching design. Through actual speeches,students refine their expressive abilities and cultivate cultural confidence,enabling them to better convey China's voice.
