Challenges Persist and New Opportunities Emerge:A Research on the Internationalization of Higher Education in China in the Post-Pandemic Era
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a significant blow to the globalization of higher education worldwide.Against the backdrop of a global transformation unseen in a century, the shifting landscape, paradigm, and international trends have given rise to new development trends in the internationalization of higher education. However, challenges faced by China's internationalization of higher education persist in the post-pandemic era, stemming from factors such as shifting perspectives on studying abroad, global turbulence, and rigid governance systems. While China's rapidly advancing higher education encounters obstacles in its internationalization process,it also presents development opportunities arising from an elevated international status, advances in frontier disciplines, and increased influence in global higher education.Accelerating and expanding the level of opening-up to the outside world, enhancing the quality construction of internationalized education, aligning with the construction of a community with a shared future for humanity, and advancing strategies such as the"Belt and Road Initiative"are effective pathways for enhancing the internationalization of Chinese higher education with distinctive Chinese characteristics.
