Survey on Reading Literacy of Fourth Graders in Gansu,Qinghai's Tibetan—Related Prefectures and Counties from the Perspective of PIRLS
This study tested and analyzed the current reading literacy status of 500 fourth-grade students and their influencing factors in Gansu and Qinghai Tibetan areas using the PIRLS assessment framework. It was found that the reading literacy level of the majority of the students was at the lower middle level, and that factors such as students'reading attitudes, reading purposes and habits, teachers'reading instruction strategies, home language environment, and cultural resources played an important role in influencing students'reading literacy. In order to comprehensively improve the reading literacy of primary school students in ethnic areas,we need to formulate targeted policies at the macro level, design diversified curricula at the meso level, and optimize reading teaching at the micro level. The support networks at different levels collaborate with each other to promote the comprehensive improvement of reading literacy of primary school students in ethnic areas.
