DESIGN EXPLORATION OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS AND URBAN PUBLIC SPACES TO ADDRESS STUDENT-PICKUP ISSUES
With the development of urbanization, cities and neighboring towns have experienced an obvious siphoning effect, leading to a notable increase in the urban population.Simultaneously, the implementation of the"primary school mergers"has resulted in a gradual decrease in the total number of primary and secondary schools, while their scale continues to expand.Due to rapid economic development, there has been an explo-sive growth in the number of vehicle drivers and private cars,"Chinese-style student-pickup"has exacerbated congestion at campus entrances and exits, causing signif-icant issues for city dwellers around the school. This paper aims to take the student-pickup issues as a starting point, discusses the causes of congestion during student-pickup periods for primary and secondary schools in cities, and analyzes the composition and form of urban primary and secondary school student-pickup systems through recent design practices and real cases to expand the functions of primary and secondary schools.
