EXPLORING THE FUTURE OF ULTRA-HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS: TAKING PING AN PROPERTY & CASUALTY INSURANCE TOWER AS AN EXAMPLE
Ultra-high-rise buildings have been consid-ered as a necessary solution to grapple with rapid urbani-zation and population growth, which is unable to respond the resulting pressures of society, culture, environment and welfare. The Ping An Property & Casualty Insurance Center in Shenzhen aims to transform the "necessary" role of ultra-high-rise buildings by creatively lifting the tower to obtain a public elevated plaza towards the urban core. In the meantime, it combines the latest technology in Internet of Things and environmental data visualiza-tion, which makes ultra-high-rise buildings promote the sustainable development of city more "actively" to achieve the goal of making high-density city become a better place to live.
