Architectural heritage is an important issue in urban regeneration. The boundaries of architectural heritage and the strategies for its preservation are often dominated by the government. There is a general focus on officially recognised architectural heritage at the ex-pense of the less grand or older architectural heritage, which is referred to as"unofficial"architectural heritage. This paper attempts to discuss how the value of archi-tectural heritage is defined and how to implement the practical strategies of conservation from the perspective of unofficial architectural heritage. The extension and reconstruction of Euston Railway Station in London,UK,is chosen as a typical example of the practice of unofficial architectural heritage. It is analysed in terms of its archi-tectural form, technology and symbols, and its value as a heritage is reviewed,in order to study its contribution to the theory of the conservation of the UK's architectural heritage. On this basis, this paper attempts to sort out the concept of unofficial architectural heritage and its practi-cal strategies in urban regeneration.
