Decentralization and Re-centralization:The Construction Mechanism of the Youth Communication Group on Cross-cultural Gendered Images
Group-based communication is a prominent feature of information exchange in the social media era.Concerning the cognitive construction process of young social media users regarding cross-cultural female image, this research explores the internal mechanism and the external motivation of the formation of youth communication groups.Taking the online fieldwork and in-depth interviews as methodologies, this research finds out that group-based communication is an important feature of youth culture and the main way of interaction within youth users, which is becoming a driving force for the development of online multiculturalism.Within the logical framework of the globalized discourse of local youth culture, the youth communication group has modernized and localized cross-cultural gender symbols.Under the dual effects of new social relations and group identities, the youth communication group formed around cross-cultural gender images has been characterized by the"decentralization"on the gender perspective and the"recentralization"on the ethnic perspective. On one hand, the communication path of youth groups reflects the impact of cultural hybridization on the identity construction of young people in the post-globalization era.On the other hand,it also reflects the game between different groups around the construction of values and discoursive structures.
