The Mismatch Between Concepts and Timing:Generation Mechanism of Rural"No Fate"Bachelors:Based on the Fieldwork of L Village in Central Guizhou Province
A field investigation in rural areas of central Guizhou found that"no fate"bachelors with good personal and family conditions have become one of the main types of rural bachelors. The"no fate"bachelors are constructed by the interaction between social structure and individual initiative. The"individualization"shift in rural society and the life events of"leaving the village and entering the city"have shaped the early"personal centered"marriage concept of"no fate"bachelors.Due to their social time suitable for marriage, most"no fate"bachelors have had marriage opportunities, but due to their"personal centered"tendency towards marriage concept,"no fate"bachelors generally do not want to get married during this period. As people age,the external pressure of marriage and self-reflection drive the"family centered"shift in the concept of"no fate"bachelor marriage. Therefore, the attitude of most"no fate"bachelors towards marriage has also shifted towards wanting to get married. However,at this time, they also deviate from the social time suitable for marriage and have to face the consequences of not being able to get married.
