The Changes in Family Intergenerational Relations and the Generation of Rural Daughters'Elderly Care
Rural daughters'elderly care has gradually become an important choice for rural families to cope with the aging population.Based on field research,it has been found that there is a phenomenon of married women participating in elderly care in rural areas. The density of economic exchange, the closeness of emotional communication, and the situational nature of intergenerational interaction are the practical logic behind this phenomenon. The root behind it lies in the transformation of family intergenerational relationships, from traditional ethical intergenerational relationships to modern practical intergenerational relationships.Practical intergenerational relationships also provide opportunities for daughters to support their elderly, reshaping their role expectations in the family, and thus shaping a new form of interaction between daughters and their families. As a result,Chinese rural families have formed a new"dual system"elderly care order with the participation of their children in the process of modernization transformation, and the perspective of the changes in family intergenerational relationships also provides a new explanatory path for understanding the elderly care order of Chinese families.
