Feasibility of Using Ages and Stages Questionnaire(ASQ)System in Population-based Social Survey in China
Early childhood development plays an important role in the socioeconomic status of one's adulthood,and social scientists have paid continuing interests in this field.However,the measurement of early childhood development in general social survey faces many challenges,such as the balance between professionalism and simplicity,objectivity and subjectivity.Different from traditional childhood development scales,the Ages and Stages Questionnaire(ASQ)system adheres to the child-centered principle,and invites caregivers to participate in children's development assessment,monitoring,and intervention activities.This is not only conducive to the accurate measurement of child development,but also contributes to the family education intervention studies.This article first reviews various early childhood development scales,and further illustrates the feasibility of using the ASQ system in general social survey in the context of China,aiming to provide reference and inspiration for related future research in China.
