Study Alone but Connected:The Online Self-study Practice and Space Production of Youths
"Cloud"life has become the normal life of citizens in the post-epidemic era.Young people are facing the pressure of examinations and entering a higher school using the Internet to carry out"cloud"self-study.Based on the participation observation and in-depth interviews of youths in different age groups,youths'reconstruction of online self-study practice,generative logic,spatial production,and learning lifestyle were explored from the perspective of Communication Sociology.The results showed that youths engaged in online self-study through audio and video live streaming,gamified learning platforms,and online socializing.What's behind online self-study might be academic fatigue,the need to make friends,and the accelerating social background.In the process of online self-study among youths,the mutual embedding of study scenes and diverse virtual spaces realizes the production of learning spaces and reconstructs the learning lifestyle of contemporary youths in the form of the"Accompanied Self-study"community.
